Chime, a financial technology enterprise rather than a bank, is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead Manager to direct the Human Agent Tooling group within its Trust & Safety division. In this position, you will guide a small crew of three to five engineers, mentor talent, establish hiring standards, and manage operational execution while actively writing production code alongside your peers. The group creates software utilized by support agents to quickly comprehend member needs, execute actions, and resolve problems securely, encompassing agent workspaces, case management instruments, real-time context displays, and access controls. You will assist in modernizing this framework while collaborating closely with product managers, operations personnel, and support agents to streamline human interactions. This opportunity suits an experienced engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical system design with people management in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Guide and mentor a squad of three to five engineers while setting hiring standards
  • Write and ship production code alongside team members
  • Drive technical design and architectural choices for Trust and Safety platforms
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects and balance individual ownership with broader team support
  • Develop and maintain robust, low-latency APIs and backend services
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, and product managers to release member-protection features
  • Enhance platform reliability and performance through system architecture, observability, and automation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation which may involve responding to incidents outside regular hours
  • Advance machine learning integration, policy lifecycle, and experimentation capabilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of software development experience in a production setting at scale
  • Prior technical leadership experience on complex projects, coordinating execution and architectural decisions
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks
  • Familiarity with transactional databases and caching systems
  • Solid grasp of architectural patterns for large-scale web applications
