In this remote position, the engineer will help evolve risk architecture, guide modernization efforts within the Trust and Safety platform, and protect users through secure, reliable systems. The role involves driving technical design decisions, leading multiple initiatives simultaneously, and establishing strong observability and automation practices. The incoming engineer will partner closely with data analysts, product managers, and data engineers to advance experimentation, policy lifecycle management, and machine learning integration. Candidates should be comfortable participating in an on-call rotation that may require responding to issues outside of standard working hours. Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to multiple technical projects concurrently
  • Design, build, and maintain low-latency backend services and APIs
  • Drive architectural and technical design decisions for platforms
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and product managers
  • Improve system reliability, performance, observability, and automation
  • Evolve experimentation, policy lifecycle, and machine learning integration capabilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of production software development experience at scale
  • Prior background serving as a technical lead for a team and on complex projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks
  • Familiarity with transactional databases and caching systems
  • Understanding of architectural patterns used in large-scale web applications
  • Commitment to peer mentoring, code quality, and maintainable software
