Spotify is hiring a Senior Revenue Accountant to support its expanding advertising revenue division. Based in New York, the position focuses on the order-to-cash workflow for programmatic, direct-sold, podcast, and emerging ad products within a multi-billion dollar business. The professional in this role will operate at the intersection of finance, sales, and engineering, helping build scalable systems while ensuring precise financial reporting.
This opportunity is well-suited for accounting professionals who enjoy cross-functional collaboration and complex financial operations. The selected candidate will manage month-end close procedures, maintain regulatory compliance, and support strategic initiatives such as system implementations, audits, and business acquisitions.
The company provides a hybrid work model requiring office attendance two to three days per week, with flexibility to work from home on other days.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounting operations for the advertising business across multiple product formats
- Complete month-end close procedures including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Ensure accurate advertising financial reporting aligned with IFRS and SOX standards
- Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to design and implement scalable accounting processes
- Establish accounting workflows for new advertising streams, platform integrations, and partnerships
- Coordinate with technical accounting, legal, sales, FP&A, tax, and financial engineering teams
- Compile documentation for internal and external audits, evaluate risks, and test system releases
- Assist with corporate acquisitions, ERP implementations, and special projects
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of professional experience in revenue accounting, general ledger accounting, accounting operations, or public accounting
- Familiarity with digital advertising, ad tech, digital media, entertainment, or scaled business environments
- Practical understanding of IFRS, revenue recognition standards, and accounting controls including SOX or ITGC
- Proficiency with enterprise resource planning software such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet strict deadlines throughout financial close cycles
- Availability to work on-site in New York two to three days per week
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or an equivalent higher education degree
- Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant credentials
- Experience working with data tools including SQL, BigQuery, or artificial intelligence enabled utilities
