Operating under a Flex First approach, the organization gives employees the freedom to work remotely from home, an office, or another preferred location, provided they reside in specific eligible regions. This position reports directly to the Director of Technical Program Management and acts as a bridge between design craft, technical operations, and strategic execution.

In this capacity, the professional will build the operational foundation necessary to scale the creative organization. • Oversee strategic vendor relationships, license optimization, and contract negotiations for design tooling platforms like Figma.
  • Handle capacity planning, roadmap creation, and resource allocation to support team health.
  • Partner with the Instacart Design System team to align programs with component adoption and governance across product groups.
  • Translate high-level strategy into actionable operating models and executable programs.

Requirements

  • Bring six or more years of experience in design operations and program management within product or design organizations.
  • Demonstrate a strong product sense and design craft sensibility with experience guiding programs to market.
  • Possess technical fluency to collaborate with engineering and design system teams regarding component APIs and system architecture.
  • Have direct experience launching products through all stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate AI fluency through practical use of automation platforms and LLMs to scale programs.
  • Show experience with vendor and contract management, software negotiations, and compliance.
  • Reside in one of the eligible Canadian provinces: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Nova Scotia.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in design systems, managing component libraries, defining tokens, and driving adoption programs.
  • Experience building AI-powered workflows specifically for creative operations or tooling integrations.
  • Track record of translating leadership visions into structured roadmaps.
  • Experience working within hybrid or embedded team models with cross-functional partners.
