As the Billing Operations Lead, you will manage the end-to-end billing lifecycle for Marketplace retailers across various revenue streams. This position acts as an anchor for the billing team by ensuring precise invoicing, maintaining month-end close schedules, and upholding financial compliance controls. You will collaborate closely with departments such as Finance, Business Development, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Revenue to drive scalability and process automation.
This opportunity suits an analytical professional with a strong operational background who excels at both mentoring junior personnel and coordinating system enhancements with technical stakeholders. You will establish standard operating procedures, track billing performance metrics using tailored dashboards, and enforce contractual billing terms alongside SOX requirements.
The position is open on a full-time, remote basis specifically for candidates located within the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities
- Manage billing portfolios across retail partners and multiple revenue streams while handling daily operations for revenue recognition inputs and month-end close
- Develop and maintain billing policies, standard operating procedures, and quality standards while resolving discrepancies with relevant internal teams
- Build reporting dashboards and track key performance indicators related to billing health in partnership with Finance Systems
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to scope and implement billing system integrations, enhancements, and automation initiatives
- Enforce internal controls, audit mandates, and contractual terms while mentoring junior team members
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience in Billing Operations, Accounts Receivable, or Order-to-Cash within SaaS, subscription, marketplace, ecommerce, or technology sectors
- At least 2 years of experience leading cross-functional quote-to-cash or billing projects independently from requirements to launch
- Hands-on experience utilizing Salesforce CPQ, an ERP system like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle, and a billing platform such as Zuora, Stripe Billing, or Chargebee
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups, alongside basic SQL skills for data analysis and reconciliations
- Working knowledge of SOX compliance, billing controls, and revenue considerations regarding adjustments, invoicing, and credits
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated success utilizing data modeling tools such as Alteryx to automate billing workflows
- Aptitude for leveraging artificial intelligence solutions to enhance billing operations
