Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Vice President, People Business Partner & Employee Relations to direct its global people business partner and employee relations divisions. Operating remotely, this executive serves as a key member of the People Leadership Team, acting as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on critical organizational and workforce decisions. The ideal professional brings deep expertise in designing operating models, shaping workforce strategies, and handling complex employee relations matters at scale.

This leadership position involves guiding the enterprise through significant periods of change, refining leadership capabilities, and ensuring fair, scalable employee relations practices globally. The role suits an experienced people leader who combines sharp talent judgment with strong business acumen and executive presence. While the position operates on a remote-first basis, new hires may attend an in-person onboarding experience and occasional travel to an office may be required depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate the strategy, structure, and operating model for worldwide people business partner and employee relations functions
  • Coach, develop, and build high-performing teams while establishing clear operational standards and accountability
  • Partner directly with executive leadership as a trusted advisor on complex functional leadership and talent decisions
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team on workforce strategy, capability planning, and operating model design
  • Oversee talent planning, executive assessment, succession planning, and performance management to elevate leadership quality
  • Direct the global employee relations strategy to ensure consistent, fair, and scalable practices
  • Provide executive oversight on sensitive employee relations matters, executive conduct issues, and investigations
  • Partner with Legal to manage employment practices, policies, and organizational risk

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of progressive experience in people leadership within complex, global technology organizations
  • Extensive background in leading a global people business partner organization and building high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, sensitive investigations, and complex employment decisions alongside legal teams
  • Proven track record of partnering directly with C-suite executives while maintaining independent judgment
