In this position, you will oversee both the technical preparation of vehicles and the management of live field incidents, ensuring seamless operational integrity during market expansions. This is a strategic leadership role where you will manage a hybrid workforce of full-time shift leads and contingent personnel rather than performing hands-on technical work. You will serve as the main on-site escalation contact for critical incidents, collaborate with cross-functional leaders, and monitor third-party recovery partners to maximize fleet availability and safety standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced operations professional with a strong background in people management, vendor coordination, and handling high-pressure escalations within dynamic environments. The position requires travel of less than 20 percent.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with local Fleet Operations leaders and program teams to optimize fleet utilization and meet market demands
- Oversee operational strategies for vehicle preparation readiness and incident response to align with uptime goals
- Directly supervise and mentor full-time shift leads and a contingent workforce while focusing on strategy and performance coaching
- Act as the primary leadership escalation path for critical field incidents, providing guidance and making high-level resolution decisions
- Provide administrative leadership, onboarding, training, and performance management for multidisciplinary and contractor workforces
- Coordinate local third-party vendors for vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, and facilities, flagging service issues to the appropriate program team
- Identify depot and field response workflow bottlenecks and collaborate cross-functionally to minimize vehicle downtime
- Ensure workshop adherence to OSHA safety policies and maintain accurate, audit-ready vehicle documentation and status reporting
- Analyze and report site-specific KPIs to provide data-driven insights regarding fleet health, efficiency, and vendor performance
Requirements
- Possess at least 8 years of relevant work experience in an operations-based environment
- Demonstrate experience managing and developing direct reports at the shift lead or supervisor level
- Have extensive experience leading, onboarding, and managing the performance of contractor or contingent workforces
- Show proven experience managing third-party service providers and holding them accountable to service level agreements
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills to handle high-priority escalations and make data-driven decisions under pressure
- Exhibit technical aptitude to understand complex autonomous vehicle hardware and software systems
- Have a process improvement mindset with experience facilitating Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies
- Maintain a clean driving record and a commitment to safety and compliance
- Be available for travel up to less than 20 percent
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business management, operations, or finance
