Zoox is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager for Mechanical Components to oversee direct procurement, industry partnerships, and supply chain operations. Zoox is building a ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem to deliver mobility-as-a-service in urban environments, operating at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design. In this full-time hybrid role, the professional will operate independently while managing third-party relationships, driving cost reductions, and handling commercial negotiations for vehicle direct materials such as interiors, structural components, and advanced hardware. This position suits an experienced sourcing professional with expertise in drive modules, powertrain, chassis, or body components who can collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, manufacturing, and design teams. The selected candidate will shape medium-term business and technology roadmaps, build total cost of ownership models, draft requests for quotation, and ensure optimal contract coverage alongside legal support. Responsibilities
- Manage strategic sourcing, industry partnerships, and third-party relationships for vehicle direct materials including interiors, structural components, and advanced hardware
- Engage with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, manufacturing, strategy, finance, and design to execute medium-term business and technology roadmaps
- Build the supply chain and partnership footprint using a strategic, long-term perspective
- Oversee daily partnership processes such as milestone tracking, change order management, quality assurance, and cost control while building supplier performance assessments
- Design and synthesize market, industry, and supplier research
- Develop total cost of ownership models and drive cost transparency to inform sourcing decisions
- Collaborate with engineering and legal teams to guarantee optimal contract coverage
- Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers regarding commercial issues and review quote packages
- Identify sourcing alternatives through competitive quotes, benchmarking, and changing requirements to improve efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience in purchasing and/or partnership development within a hardware product environment
- Demonstrated expertise in chassis, powertrain, drive modules, or body components
- Proficiency in strategic sourcing, financial and business opportunity analysis, contract negotiation, and legal frameworks
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders at all levels
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical abilities

- Demonstrated ability to recognize business process problems and implement process improvements
