Zoox is building a purpose-built, fully autonomous vehicle fleet along with the necessary supporting ecosystem to deliver urban mobility-as-a-service. Operating at the intersection of machine learning, design, and robotics, the organization seeks individuals to join its execution-oriented team.
The company is currently hiring a System Test Engineer to support the System Integration and Validation team. In this position, the contributor will lead validation and integration tasks for autonomy, robotics, and autonomous behaviors to verify that the product satisfies safety requirements, customer expectations, and milestone readiness.
This opportunity suits professionals with a background in testing complex software and robotics systems in a safety-critical environment. The role involves designing high-level test plans, automating test procedures using internal hardware and software assets, analyzing telemetry and logs to investigate root causes, and managing defects throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute test plans and test cases abstracted to the highest integration level
- Automate testing processes leveraging internal Software in the Loop and Hardware in the Loop assets
- Collect metrics, review data, and supply quantitative evidence regarding milestone readiness
- Analyze vehicle logs and testing data via internal tools to investigate root causes of failures
- Handle documentation and communication regarding identified issues
- Participate in the defect management workflow starting from initial recognition through final resolution
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field such as Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science
- Bring at least three years of professional industry experience testing complex systems involving autonomy, robotics, and autonomous behaviors
- Possess experience in creating and executing scalable test methodologies across multiple teams
- Demonstrate software development proficiency utilizing high-level languages like Python, Pytest, and REST APIs
- Have experience using version control tools such as Git
- Demonstrate troubleshooting experience with integrated systems
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Hardware in the Loop or Software in the Loop environments
- Experience using issue tracking and reporting platforms like Azure DevOps and Jira
- Experience working with Unix and Linux operating systems
