Zoox seeks a Team Lead, Readiness & Response to join its Fleet Operations organization and support the deployment of autonomous Robotaxi and Mapping Vehicle fleets into new markets. In this position, you will oversee both the technical preparation of vehicles and the management of live field incidents, ensuring high fleet availability and adherence to safety standards. Rather than performing hands-on technical work, you will focus on high-level strategy, performance coaching, and operational health.
This role suits an experienced operations professional who excels at managing hybrid workforces, coordinating third-party vendors, and resolving critical escalations under pressure. You will lead full-time shift leads and contingent associates, optimize depot workflows, and track site-specific key performance indicators. The position involves up to twenty percent travel and requires an on-site presence.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with local Fleet Ops leaders and Program Teams to optimize fleet utilization
- Oversee operational strategies for vehicle preparation and incident response to meet uptime goals
- Manage and mentor full-time shift leads and a contingent workforce
- Act as the primary on-site leadership escalation contact for critical field incidents and service interferences
- Handle administrative and people leadership duties for a multidisciplinary team
- Coordinate local third-party vendors for vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, and facilities
- Identify operational bottlenecks in depot workflows and field response protocols
- Ensure workshop adherence to health and safety policies including OSHA
- Analyze and report site-specific KPIs regarding fleet health, team efficiency, and vendor performance
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in an operations-based setting
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing direct reports at the shift lead or supervisor level
- Extensive experience leading, onboarding, and managing contractor or contingent workforces
- Experience managing third-party service providers and holding external partners accountable to SLAs
- Ability to manage high-priority escalations and make data-driven decisions in fast-paced or ambiguous situations
- Aptitude for understanding complex autonomous vehicle hardware and software systems
- Experience facilitating Lean Six Sigma projects or similar methodologies
- Possession of a clean driving record and commitment to workplace safety compliance
- Willingness to travel up to 20 percent
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field such as business management, operations, or finance
- Experience working with autonomous vehicles or within a safety-critical industry
- Experience in a fast-paced and dynamic service environment
- Familiarity with fleet management software
