Zoox is building a purpose-built, ground-up autonomous vehicle fleet alongside a supporting ecosystem designed to deliver urban mobility-as-a-service through robotics and machine learning. The company is currently hiring a System Test Engineer to operate within the System Integration and Validation department on a hybrid schedule. This position centers on testing highly intricate safety-critical software to ensure the technology satisfies customer needs, safety standards, and milestone targets.
This role is ideal for a technical professional experienced in troubleshooting integrated systems and scaling test methods across multiple teams. The successful candidate will guide the validation of operational, cloud, and autonomy components. Primary duties involve creating high-level test plans, automating procedures using internal Software in the Loop and Hardware in the Loop resources, gathering quantitative metrics to gauge milestone preparedness, and tracing defects through root cause analysis of vehicle logs and test data.
Responsibilities
- Create test strategies and test cases focused on the highest integration level
- Automate testing processes using internal Hardware in the Loop and Software in the Loop equipment
- Examine metrics and data to supply quantitative reports on milestone readiness
- Investigate vehicle logs and test results with internal applications to identify failure root causes
- Participate in the defect tracking workflow from initial detection to final fix
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of professional experience testing complex systems including cloud tools, cloud networking, mobile apps, application user interfaces, and operational workflows
- Background in building and running scalable test methodologies across multiple groups
- Programming proficiency in high-level languages such as Python, Pytest, and REST API
- Familiarity with version control platforms like Git
- Hands-on background in troubleshooting integrated technology systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field
- Prior exposure to Hardware in the Loop or Software in the Loop environments
- Familiarity with issue tracking applications such as Jira and Azure Dev Ops
- Experience working with Linux and Unix operating systems
