The organization is currently seeking a Staff Product Manager, Applied Science - Representation Learning to help guide the future trajectory of its applied AI and machine learning infrastructure.
In this position, the incumbent will blend product management discipline with research goals to design strategies for recommender systems, signals, and representation learning. Responsibilities include shaping product roadmaps, fostering cross-functional collaboration with engineering and science teams, ensuring platform adoption, and managing infrastructure costs sustainably. The role suits experienced product professionals who possess deep technical credibility in machine learning, a strong background in platform strategy, and the ability to navigate ambiguous environments while balancing innovation with long-term system health.

Responsibilities
- Shape product vision and strategy across representation learning, signals, and recommender systems
- Collaborate with teams across Pinterest to drive adoption of new capabilities and prevent siloed development
- Partner with science, engineering, research, and surface teams to turn technical roadmaps into concrete product initiatives with defined success metrics
- Define and communicate measurements for platform value, covering adoption, quality, deployment speed, and infrastructure costs
- Evaluate modeling trade-offs, assist with experimentation, and scale innovations across major platform surfaces
Requirements
- At least 7 years of product management experience or equivalent background
- Demonstrated experience managing a shared machine learning or artificial intelligence platform utilized by internal engineering and product teams
- Track record of launching artificial intelligence or machine learning products into production on high-traffic consumer surfaces involving retrieval, ranking, or recommendation systems
- Experience managing deprecation, technical debt, and infrastructure cost trade-offs
- Ability to engage substantively on technical topics including representation learning, experiment design, and model architecture trade-offs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent experience
