The organization is currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist to focus on infrastructure and join the Infrastructure Data Science team located in San Francisco.
This position suits a data professional who enjoys transforming ambiguous technical challenges into actionable insights. Working closely with engineering and cross-functional groups, the incoming specialist will help enhance how the company monitors, evaluates, and optimizes its underlying technology systems. Daily responsibilities span several critical domains, which may include site reliability, shopping infrastructure, performance metrics, and governance.
The role requires an individual who can build reliable measurement foundations, audit data quality, and construct production-ready data pipelines. Successful candidates will design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of technical modifications on both the user experience and business outcomes. While the position is based in San Francisco, it operates under a flexible working model that requires in-office collaboration one to two times per quarter.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering squads to define and optimize the quality, health, and efficiency of infrastructure systems
- Develop metrics, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to make complex technical operations measurable and actionable
- Audit data quality, improve metric definitions, and contribute to measurement and pipeline improvements
- Create and interpret experiments and investigations to quantify how infrastructure updates affect user experience and business results
- Convert vague technical problems into structured analytical workstreams and practical recommendations for stakeholders
- Drive high-priority evaluations regarding infrastructure performance, costs, measurement quality, and reliability
Requirements
- Four or more years of combined post-graduate academic and professional background applying scientific methods to resolve real-world problems using large-scale data
- Strong SQL abilities and analytical programming skills with experience handling messy data and building dependable metrics
- Background contributing to production-ready data pipelines, measurement systems, or foundational data initiatives
- Solid grounding in experimentation, capable of designing analyses and interpreting results accurately
- Proven capacity to translate vague issues into distinct analytical tasks and clear recommendations
- Robust cross-functional communication abilities to convey technical conclusions to engineering and product stakeholders
- Capacity to operate autonomously and manage priorities between long-term initiatives and urgent requests

- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
