The company is currently hiring a full-time Software Engineer to work on site at its San Francisco location, with full-time telecommuting also available as an option. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining backend microservices, APIs, and horizontally scalable distributed systems that handle high-volume advertising traffic. The position suits an engineering professional who enjoys collaborating with product, data, and platform teams to deliver high-impact ad infrastructure, execute A/B experiments, and enhance operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers to design and implement advertising products
- Partner with platform and data teams while developing new features
- Enhance operational stability by improving code quality, building dashboards, and creating data visualizations
- Construct extensible components aligned with product goals
- Handle daily project management duties such as tracking timelines, sharing updates, and directing execution
- Develop and operate backend microservices and APIs responsible for ad validation, resolution, and data model transformation
- Create and sustain distributed, scalable backend systems for high-traffic production environments, incorporating caching, data storage, and observability instrumentation
- Design and run A/B experiments and feature rollouts to assess product modifications and measure advertising performance
Requirements
- Four years of experience in the offered role or a related occupational field
- Backend service design and development using Java, Go, or Python
- Designing distributed, horizontally scalable backend systems for high-traffic production workloads
- Developing service-to-service APIs utilizing RPC or HTTP-based frameworks like gRPC, Thrift, or GQL
- Deploying and managing production services on Amazon Web Services including container orchestration platforms
- Performing data modeling and schema design for relational and NoSQL datastores with query optimization and indexing
- Conducting A/B testing and feature-flagged experimentation within production settings
- Implementing production observability instrumentation using metrics, logs, and request tracing
- Integrating automated unit, integration, and functional testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Developing backend systems for digital advertising technology, including ad serving, ingestion, or targeting workflows
- Leading technical design and end-to-end delivery for multi-quarter projects
