Job Description

Twilio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (L3) to join its Compliance Experiences team, which handles critical Phone Numbers and KYC domains. The role involves transforming legacy architectures, maintaining operational health, and partnering across teams to deliver secure, compliant platform services.

This position is well-suited for a technical contributor who embraces modern development workflows, including AI-augmented tools like LLMs and agentic assistants, to boost velocity and test coverage. The ideal candidate takes end-to-end ownership of components, balances feature delivery with risk reduction, and mentors junior engineering staff. Occasional in-person travel for team gatherings, off-sites, or customer meetings may be required.

  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to turn regulatory and customer demands into technical specifications and APIs
  • Mentor junior engineers and support onboarding through code reviews and technical guidance
  • Manage on-call duties, resolve production incidents, and execute root-cause remediation
  • Author design documents, RFCs, and operational runbooks

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience designing and building secure, high-scale, cloud-native enterprise distributed systems
  • Proficiency in Java or Go with solid understanding of AWS ecosystems including Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, and Kafka
  • Practical background using AI coding assistants such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor
  • Experience developing and maintaining public-facing high-volume APIs
  • Familiarity with high-throughput data storage and processing solutions like SQL, NoSQL, Redis, Kafka, or Spark
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code

Qualifications

  • Experience building internal developer platforms
  • Experience developing or integrating AI agents into automated operations or internal platforms
