Within this division, the Upfunnel group concentrates on crafting pre-checkout functionalities that introduce users to Affirm services directly on merchant web pages.

The organization seeks a Software Engineer I, Frontend to join the Upfunnel team on a remote basis in Canada. This position involves developing and enhancing high-traffic browser experiences, including Affirm.js, promotional displays, testing frameworks, and internal developer tools. Suitable candidates are collaborative problem-solvers who can balance delivery speed with system stability while working alongside cross-functional teams.

New hires typically start at the bottom of the designated pay scale, which is determined by factors such as geographical location, prior experience, and relevant skills. The position is remote-first and open exclusively to individuals living in specific Canadian provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. Participants may occasionally need to travel for an in-person onboarding program.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance high-traffic web interfaces across Affirm.js, promotional features, experimentation tools, and developer utilities
  • Partner proactively with team members and stakeholders to communicate project progress and address potential technical trade-offs
  • Balance delivery speed and code quality to achieve business objectives while preventing service interruptions
  • Maintain dependable cross-browser operations using browser debugging, performance monitoring, metrics, and automated testing utilities
  • Participate in team operational duties and engage in professional growth activities

Requirements

  • Prior work or internship background building web applications using declarative user interface libraries such as React or Vue
  • Previous practical experience or internships utilizing JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Ability to transform standard business scenarios into modular, extensible, and well-tested code solutions
  • Capability to navigate extensive codebases, perform code reviews, and debug work authored by others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cooperating with a global engineering organization
