The organization seeks a Software Engineer to join its Cloud Engineering division, focusing specifically on Ceph and distributed storage. In this position, the professional will build modeling software for platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Ceph while engineering production-scalable solutions and assisting field teams with customer technology adoption.

Daily activities involve writing Python and Golang code, debugging issues, collaborating globally, writing technical documentation, and developing software for the life-cycle management of Ceph storage. The role is suited for individuals passionate about open source software, distributed systems, and the software-defined datacenter.

Candidates must be willing to travel internationally roughly two to four times annually, typically for one-week periods, to meet with colleagues. The position is based remotely within the Americas or EMEA regions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clean, well-designed software using Python and Golang
  • Partner proactively with a globally distributed engineering group
  • Investigate problems and write code to resolve them
  • Author technical documentation establishing best practices for operator creation
  • Exchange ideas to discover effective engineering solutions
  • Build and maintain software handling the delivery, operations, and life-cycle management of Ceph storage

Requirements

  • Experience writing modern and maintainable Python code
  • Practical background working with Ceph storage
  • Enthusiasm for technology, open source, distributed systems, and software-defined datacenters
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed team context

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in STEM, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Exceptional academic record spanning high school and university
  • Familiarity with two or more of the following: Go, Python, Linux, Kubernetes, Public cloud, OpenStack, LXC or LXD, and Debian packaging
  • Experience managing production Ceph clusters
  • Background with open source distributed storage systems such as Minio, Gluster, or Mayastor
