Job Description
Vercel, known as the agentic infrastructure company, builds tools utilized by organizations such as OpenAI, PayPal, and Ramp. The firm is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join its Agent team, which focuses on unifying automated code reviews, production anomaly investigations, and customer support functionalities into a singular platform agent. In this capacity, the selected candidate will help create self-driving infrastructure and framework-defined agent workflows designed to operate across multiple surfaces including the Vercel dashboard, command-line interface, and Slack.
This position requires working closely with leadership, product designers, and infrastructure teams within a compact, high-impact unit. The ideal individual demonstrates strong full-stack engineering capabilities, a solid product sensibility, and a history of independent delivery. While the position is listed as remote, individuals living within a designated commuting distance of company offices in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin are expected to work in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Design and construct agentic systems capable of autonomously diagnosing, investigating, and resolving production incidents such as 500 errors, build failures, and security anomalies.
- Architect multi-step agent workflows that coordinate across tools, application programming interfaces, and sandboxed code execution environments with persistent state management.
- Develop platform tool integrations and skills that grant the agent comprehensive awareness of deployments, functions, logs, metrics, domain name system configurations, and web application lifecycles.
- Deliver polished user interfaces across multiple surfaces including the command line interface, dashboard, and Slack without relying on pre-made design mockups.
- Establish infrastructure supporting dynamic skill injection so the agent can acquire capabilities at runtime rather than through redeployment.
- Partner with engineering colleagues on prompt engineering, model evaluation, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
Requirements
- Bring seven or more years of full-time software engineering experience.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in TypeScript, or deep Python background with a willingness to work extensively in TypeScript.
- Possess a strong product and user interface sensibility with the ability to build experiences independently.
- Hold full-stack capabilities alongside an understanding of infrastructure, continuous integration and continuous deployment, observability, and large-scale web application operations.
- Show a demonstrated history of shipping independently, steering architecture, and directing small teams.
Qualifications
- Experience building production-ready agentic systems, artificial intelligence tooling, or automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with large language model application programming interfaces, prompt engineering, or retrieval-augmented generation.
- Prior work history involving Vercel, Next.js, or contemporary web deployment ecosystems.
- Familiarity with sandboxed execution environments, container orchestration, or secure multi-tenant architectures.
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package including equity
- Inclusive healthcare package
- Learning and growth resources such as mentorship and event sponsorship
- Flexible time off
- Work gear and a work-from-home budget
