The company is seeking a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager for Search Signals to lead company-level initiatives focused on content understanding, offsite signals, and relevance, aiding Pinterest's transition into a shopping and inspiration destination.
This full-time, on-site role suits experienced technical program leaders capable of operating at the intersection of business strategy, cross-organizational influence, and deep technical execution. The position requires guiding teams through complex technical challenges, establishing enterprise-wide roadmaps, and utilizing generative artificial intelligence as a primary operating model for program management workflows.
The role involves working directly with AI Research teams, product divisions, engineering, legal, privacy stakeholders, and external data partners. Professionals in this position will establish best practices for data acquisition, model evaluation, and signals management while adhering to safety-by-design and AI governance expectations. Candidates must be able to report to an office for in-person collaboration one to two times per quarter.
Responsibilities
- Develop and steer the enterprise-wide roadmap for signals, connecting business goals to technical execution and impacting company OKRs
- Manage and deliver large-scale programs spanning multiple organizations while navigating technical ambiguity and risk
- Act as the primary liaison between AI Research teams and partner departments to integrate new models like LLMs and recommender systems
- Present program progress and strategic vision to executive leadership and drive consensus across business, technical, and regulatory areas
- Utilize generative artificial intelligence tools for drafting core documentation, risk tracking, and automating high-toil workflows
- Establish best practices for signals management, data acquisition, and model evaluation
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in a technical field or possess equivalent work experience
- Bring at least ten years of experience in technical or analytical roles with significant program leadership at company scale
- Demonstrate deep technical expertise in search, machine learning, artificial intelligence, recommendation systems, and large-scale data integration
- Show a proven history of influencing stakeholders at the vice president or staff level across complex cross-functional environments
- Comply with safety-by-design AI governance principles, including sensitive data handling and model output validation
- Be available to travel to the office for in-person collaboration one to two times per quarter
Qualifications
- Experience working with external data partners and negotiating data acquisition agreements
- Background in internationalization and supporting global product relevance
- Prior experience working with search products at a low level of detail
