Zoox is seeking a Senior or Staff Technical Program Manager for Fleet Orchestration to guide cross-functional planning and execution across its autonomous vehicle initiatives. The company is developing a custom-built robotaxi and operating an autonomous test fleet using Toyota Highlander vehicles, aiming to deliver next-generation urban mobility solutions. This position sits within the Program Management Office and involves coordinating efforts across vehicle development, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business units to scale operations into new regions.
The person in this role will oversee fleet orchestration strategy to support rapid growth across both the driverless robotaxi service and the autonomous test fleet. Responsibilities include shaping the roadmap for cloud systems that pair rider requests with vehicles, managing fleet charging and positioning, and improving the mobile app experience. Candidates will also focus on optimizing routing and mission assignment for the test fleet to maximize data collection efficiency. Success requires establishing key performance indicators, tracking metrics closely, analyzing root causes, and collaborating with engineers and data scientists to solve complex technical challenges.
This opportunity is well-suited for a technically minded program manager with a background in large-scale cloud software systems, marketplaces, or fleet management. Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional strategy and execution to scale the fleet and mature orchestration capabilities across new cities and states
- Drive the roadmap and execution for cloud systems that pair rider trip requests with vehicles, manage charging, and position units for future demand
- Partner with Product Software, Product, Data Science, and Fleet Operations teams to ship service improvements
- Champion orchestration improvements for the autonomous test fleet to optimize routing, mission assignment, and data accumulation efficiency
- Define key performance indicators for orchestration performance, build tracking mechanisms, and use data to trigger immediate action
- Engage in technical trade-offs with engineers and data scientists to invent new orchestration capabilities
Requirements
- 7+ years of technical program management experience
- Strong background in large-scale cloud software systems such as dispatch, marketplace, fleet management platforms, or consumer mobile apps backed by cloud services
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical bottlenecks into clear, data-backed executive narratives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- Experience with fleet orchestration, ride-hailing, delivery, logistics, or other real-time marketplace and dispatch systems
- Familiarity with optimization problems including routing, matching, resource allocation, or demand forecasting
- Experience with autonomous vehicle platforms or large-scale robotics fleets
