Spotify is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for the Platform & Partner Experience team in London. The Experience Mission focuses on shaping Spotify's consumer journey across all screens, devices, partner integrations, and smart hardware such as TVs, cars, and smart speakers. In this role, you will guide technical strategy and architecture for systems supporting partner and platform experiences at a massive scale.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys navigating complex architectural challenges, unifying fragmented systems, and collaborating across multiple organizational boundaries. You will partner with infrastructure, product, and design groups to build shared foundational architectures, eliminate duplicate tooling, and streamline workflows. Additionally, you will explore how artificial intelligence transforms the software development lifecycle by pioneering AI-native workflows.
Spotify operates under a flexible hybrid model. This position allows you to work from any location in EMEA where Spotify maintains an office, excluding France due to local on-call regulations. The daily collaboration happens across Central European and GMT time zones.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy, architecture, and system development for partner and platform experiences across devices and integrations
- Drive complex technical initiatives spanning multiple studios or an entire mission
- Unify fragmented approaches, retire redundant systems, and establish standards that help multiple studios accelerate development
- Influence technical direction across organizational boundaries while guiding other senior engineers
- Partner with engineering, product, and design leaders to identify shared goals, align technical roadmaps, and reduce duplication
- Pioneer AI-native workflows and capabilities that bridge engineering, product, and design to transform the software development lifecycle
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems that serve users at scale
- Proven background in technical leadership, including shaping architecture decisions across multiple teams and driving organizational change
- Ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous problem spaces to determine high-leverage technical investments
- Experience exploring how artificial intelligence reshapes software development and translating emerging capabilities into team improvements
- Demonstrated collaborative, inclusive, and thoughtful mindset with a commitment to positive team culture
