The organization is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Planner GPU Compute team to focus on the performance of the motion planner, which is the largest single software component in the autonomy stack.
This position suits a specialist in GPU performance who can ensure safe operation through low latency and consistent resource utilization. Responsibilities span across machine learning inference and custom CUDA kernels tailored for the motion planner. Engineers in this function will profile performance metrics, adapt the planner to multiple GPU architectures, optimize machine learning models for memory usage and speed, and guide other engineers regarding CUDA and GPU performance.
The role operates on a hybrid remote schedule and is structured as a full-time position. Responsibilities
- Analyze performance metrics to pinpoint GPU hotspots and implement optimizations
- Adapt the current planner to multiple GPU architectures featuring varying resources
- Optimize machine learning models to improve latency and reduce GPU memory consumption
- Act as a subject matter expert on CUDA and GPU performance to support internal engineers
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor of Science in computer science or a related technical field
- Bring at least 8 years of professional experience
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of CUDA applied to modern GPU microarchitectures such as Ampere and Blackwell
- Possess experience debugging and optimizing GPU kernels using profiling tools like Nsight
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in C++ within large code bases and familiarity with Linux development environments
- Show experience with the development, debugging, and profiling of complex multiprocess systems such as robotic systems or game engines
