Ro seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend for a hybrid position based in New York. The company operates a vertically integrated digital healthcare platform connecting telehealth, diagnostics, pharmacy, and logistics to give patients end-to-end control over their care. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the architecture and creation of web applications used by millions of members and healthcare providers.

This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who excels at building accessible, high-performance interfaces and wants to contribute to modern healthcare delivery. The individual will design frontend systems, optimize application performance, and participate in production on-call rotations. Team members collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and adjacent engineering groups to ship intuitive experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design, and implementation for patient and provider web experiences

  • Drive engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, and observability
  • Contribute to architectural vision and technical roadmaps
  • Participate in code reviews and write technical design documents
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers
  • Participate in on-call rotations to maintain production system reliability

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience building accessible and engaging web applications
  • Proficiency with React and TypeScript
  • Familiarity with UI architecture and client-side performance
  • Experience working at scale within a Turborepo monorepo utilizing shared design systems, TanStack Query, React Aria, and Playwright or Storybook
  • Hands-on experience with metrics instrumentation and data-driven performance tuning
  • Strong sense of ownership from technical design through post-shipping monitoring
