In this remote position as a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (App Experience), the professional will spearhead frontend technical strategies and collaborate with product engineering teams utilizing React with TypeScript.

This role suits an experienced engineer capable of steering horizontal initiatives, leading teams through ambiguous situations, and building high-stakes product features derived from Figma or technical specifications. The engineer will execute code migrations, modernize web architecture, and design tools such as codemods or AI agent skills to increase efficiency. Responsibilities also include managing quarterly team goals, establishing code review and design benchmarks, and participating in the full product development lifecycle alongside product management, design, and analytics partners.

Affirm functions as a remote-first organization, permitting candidates to work from eligible Canadian provinces including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. Selected individuals may occasionally be invited to in-person onboarding experiences. The total compensation package encompasses base salary ranges between $153,000 and $213,000 CAD annually, equity awards via an employee stock purchase plan, monthly stipends for technology, health, and wellness, and fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for staff and dependents alongside flexible time off policies.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver quarterly team goals while navigating ambiguity to resolve open-ended problems
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and technical planning
  • Build, implement, and modernize web code architecture, design systems, and product features using React and TypeScript
  • Create and utilize tools, codemods, and AI agent skills to improve development efficiency
  • Monitor team artifact operations and availability while supporting on-call and upkeep duties
  • Establish code review and design standards while mentoring peers and guiding team talent development

Requirements

  • Possess at least 4 years of experience building and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue
  • Demonstrate proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Show documented leadership in driving horizontal initiatives across multiple teams
  • Exhibit experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality through technical execution plans
  • Reside within Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
