Twilio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Stytch team and help build out the next generation of fraud prevention solutions. Operating as a startup-style environment within Twilio, this position focuses heavily on the Device Fingerprinting product designed to identify bots, manual abuse, and sophisticated reverse engineering. The person in the role will create and own fraud detection capabilities, dive into browser and device internals for signal collection, and partner with leadership to guide technical direction.
This opportunity is well-suited for a hands-on builder who enjoys working with autonomy, managing ambiguity, and addressing complex technical obstacles. Responsibilities include designing and authoring technical documentation, writing and reviewing code, ensuring high production resilience, and mentoring peers through feedback and pairing.
Twilio is a remote-first communications platform provider operating globally. While team members work from home, occasional in-person attendance may be required for functional off-sites, team gatherings, or customer meetings. Responsibilities
- Build and own fraud detection capabilities for the Stytch platform on Twilio
- Collect complex signals by examining browser and device internals to identify malicious actors
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to establish direction and deliver roadmap features
- Align on architecture and integrate platform capabilities across Twilio and Stytch teams
- Write design documents, review code, and make core technical choices
- Resolve complex challenges, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and adopt new technologies
- Enhance production quality and resilience via incident response, remediation, and observability
- Mentor other engineers through pairing, knowledge-sharing, and constructive feedback
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience designing, building, and operating production systems
- Familiarity with a production-grade codebase in a modern programming language using best coding practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to work non-standard hours, including on-call weekend and holiday rotations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
- Production experience with C or C++
- Familiarity with Go, Javascript, or WebAssembly
- Background in reverse engineering or reverse engineering detection and prevention
- Offensive or defensive security software engineering experience
