This position offers exposure to massive datasets and large-scale recommendation systems, engaging researchers in solving complex artificial intelligence challenges.
Interns will direct their own projects from inception to completion, working on algorithmic research, infrastructure, data engineering, training, inference, and product delivery. The role involves utilizing frontier artificial intelligence tools to accelerate implementation, prototyping, and experimentation while validating generated outputs for correctness and security. Candidates will focus on areas such as computer vision, user modeling, recommender systems, search, advertising, ranking, natural language processing, neural networks, personalization, graph representation learning, and big data analytics.
The duration of the internship is twelve weeks, with fixed start dates of either May 17, 2027, or June 14, 2027. Depending on the assigned team, the position may be remote or hybrid out of offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York, or Seattle. Responsibilities
- Manage an individual project from start to finish focused on machine learning and artificial intelligence research.
- Build production machine learning systems spanning algorithmic research, infrastructure, data engineering, training, inference, and product solutions.
- Utilize frontier artificial intelligence tools and agents to speed up prototyping, experimentation, and engineering implementation.
- Verify artificial intelligence outputs through testing, code review, critical thinking, performance checks, and security maintenance.
- Investigate unfamiliar code, troubleshoot bugs, and summarize technical context using artificial intelligence.
- Produce clean, efficient, and sustainable code while taking ownership of tasks with minimal oversight.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one systems language such as Java, C++, or Python, or an ML framework such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, or MLFlow.
- Familiarity with AI-native engineering and the design of agent-friendly codebases.
- Capability to learn new agent-first development tools autonomously and adapt prompts or workflows iteratively.
- Experience conducting research and addressing analytical problems.
Qualifications
- Authorship of publications in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical domains.
- Demonstrated interest in conducting research and applying machine learning to real-world product problems.
