Figma is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Growth Platform. As the first engineering manager for this new team, the incumbent will define the product vision, beginning with the Communications capability. The core missions of this team are to facilitate large-scale experimentation with high quality and to manage the shared notification platform powering all transactional emails and alerts across Figma. This role suits professionals who want to build and mentor teams, drive technical architecture, and integrate artificial intelligence to streamline operational scaling.
Figma creates design software that enables teams to collaborate in real time on brainstorming, prototyping, and translating designs into code. This position is full-time and can be performed from a United States hub or remotely within the country.
The person in this role will hire initial engineers, set team standards, and foster career growth. Responsibilities include developing product capabilities that remove engineering bottlenecks for growth experiments, utilizing artificial intelligence for quality and governance, offering hands-on technical guidance, and collaborating across marketing, product, design, and data departments.
Responsibilities
- Recruit initial engineers for the first Growth Platform team and establish standards, culture, and operating rhythms
- Mentor team members and facilitate career advancement as the organization scales
- Develop product features such as self-service publishing and personalized messaging to allow growth experimentation without engineering bottlenecks
- Incorporate artificial intelligence approaches for copy generation, visual quality checks, brand consistency, and governance
- Deliver technical leadership through architecture direction, system design reviews, and build-versus-integrate choices
- Collaborate with marketing, product, design, and data teams to align messaging and protect the end-user experience
- Define the platform roadmap based on adoption, impact, and phase learning
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in engineering management with a background in building application platforms
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience at the product or application tier
- Demonstrated ability to drive high impact from minor changes and scale those wins
- Strategic insight for balancing short-term and long-term goals
- Capacity to operate in ambiguous environments while executing toward a long-term vision
- Track record of prioritizing by impact and leveraging existing assets
- Experience cooperating cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, and data teams
Qualifications
- Background at a product-led growth company during multi-product expansion phases
- Experience building platforms allowing non-engineering teams to run experiments or publish content independently
- Familiarity with personalization systems, recommendation engines, or machine-learning content selection
- Experience integrating with marketing automation tools, customer data platforms, or building user attribute services
- Knowledge of using artificial intelligence for content governance, brand consistency, or quality assurance at scale
- Familiarity with internationalization and localization infrastructure
