Canonical seeks a remote Manager, People Analytics based in the AMER or EMEA region to join the data discipline inside the people department. This position reports directly to the Global Head of Workplace Engineering. The workplace engineering group combines traditional human resources analytics with product engineering to turn raw workforce data into people products that boost performance.
The person in this role will lead a multidisciplinary squad of UX designers, software engineers, and people data scientists. Responsibilities include shaping open-source AI and data stacks, translating complex data models into stories, and building AI agents that deliver real-time insights to managers. The role focuses on leveraging technology in human resources offerings to increase high-touch human involvement and value.

Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a specialized squad consisting of people data scientists, software engineers, and UX designers
- Bridge communication between technical engineering teams and human resources objectives
- Transition reporting metrics from descriptive indicators to prescriptive and predictive insights
- Translate complex data models into compelling narratives and develop real-time AI agents for managers
- Ensure the people data stack remains secure, compliant with privacy regulations, and serves as a single source of truth
Requirements
- Background in engineering, mathematics, or data science with advanced statistics and database skills
- Proficiency in coding or scripting languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript
- Experience with data visualization tools like Superset or Tableau, automation, and software engineering
- Business-level proficiency in written and spoken English
- Willingness to travel internationally for company events two to four times per year, for durations up to two weeks
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Experience with Airbyte, Ranger, Superset, Temporal, or Trino
- Basic understanding of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience in agentic engineering, product management, user experience, and design
