The Core Engineering group seeks a Machine Learning Engineer II to develop personalized features and recommendation engines. In this capacity, the professional will build advanced technology utilizing contemporary deep learning and machine learning methods to enhance user experiences across surfaces such as the Homefeed, Search, Shopping, Ads, and Growth. Responsibilities
- Develop cutting-edge technology using recent advances in deep learning and machine learning to personalize the Pinterest platform
- Collaborate with internal teams to test and refine machine learning models across product surfaces including Homefeed, Ads, Growth, Shopping, and Search
- Apply data-driven techniques and leverage proprietary data properties to enhance candidate retrieval
- Operate within a high-impact setting focused on swift experimentation and product deployment
- Monitor and research industry developments regarding recommendation systems
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience applying machine learning methods such as personalization, user modeling, recommender systems, search, ranking, graph representation learning, natural language processing, or reinforcement learning
- End-to-end practical experience building big data technologies, large-scale machine learning systems, and data processing pipelines like Hadoop or Spark
- Expertise in scalable real-time systems that process stream data
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for applied machine learning and the company product
Qualifications
- Master of Science or PhD degree in Machine Learning or related disciplines
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Copilot, or Codex for software development, testing, debugging, and refactoring
- Experience using LLM-powered productivity tools for documentation search, data exploration or SQL, experiment analysis, and workflow acceleration
