The commercial legal group is currently hiring a Director and Assistant General Counsel to oversee inbound and supplier agreements while supporting enterprise cloud strategy and technological scaling across multiple platforms.
This position involves leading a legal department, managing complex negotiations, and serving as an escalation point for difficult issues. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and work closely with internal divisions such as Engineering, Privacy, Security, Finance, Procurement, and IT.
This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, California, though the role requires in-office collaboration only one to two times every six months. The annual base salary falls between $210,161 and $432,684 USD, and the position is eligible for equity.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of legal professionals handling complex commercial and technology transactions
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, professional development, and resource allocation
- Establish operating rhythms and team priorities to maximize productivity, quality, and stakeholder support
- Serve as an escalation resource for contentious, complex, or time-sensitive legal problems
- Direct negotiation strategies and conduct legal risk assessments for SaaS, cloud infrastructure, AI, data processing, and professional services agreements
- Collaborate with Engineering, Security, Privacy, Finance, Procurement, and IT departments on strategic business initiatives
- Develop scalable templates, playbooks, workflows, and decision frameworks
- Utilize performance metrics and feedback loops to enhance execution and stakeholder experiences
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree
- Minimum of 10 years of professional legal experience
- Extensive background negotiating complex SaaS, cloud services, technology infrastructure, and commercial transactions
- Demonstrated people management history encompassing coaching, performance oversight, and workforce planning
- Familiarity with data privacy, data security, AI, and standard commercial risks
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of in-house legal experience at a technology company
