Spotify seeks a remote Data Scientist to join its Music Mission team in New York. The company operates streaming platforms and develops promotional capabilities such as Discovery Mode, Marquee, Showcase, Music Videos, and Clips to help musicians and record labels build and monetize fan bases.
In this position, the professional will focus on Discovery Mode, which connects artists with new listeners through personalized playlist algorithms. Collaborating with engineering, product, and user research departments, the candidate will concentrate on customer engagement, analytical reporting, instrumentation, self-serve product dashboards, and performance experiments.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues across design, marketing, engineering, product, and research to shape upcoming artist promotion tools
- Find high-impact product development opportunities derived from customer needs and execute initiatives efficiently
- Establish success metrics and construct performance tracking dashboards
- Partner with fellow data scientists to design and evaluate hypotheses that yield actionable insights for product expansion
- Contribute to the data science community by sharing skills and refining industry standards
- Support a data-informed decision-making culture to generate measurable business results
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a comparable Data Science capacity
- Hands-on background utilizing Python, DBT, BigQuery, SQL, and Tableau to extract insights
- Familiarity with product analytics, including defining success metrics, executing exploratory analyses, and delivering product recommendations
- Practical background leveraging experimentation to guide product creation
- Strong communication abilities to explain technical concepts simply to diverse audiences
Qualifications
- Degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related quantitative discipline
- Prior experience working with advertising
