Job Description

GuidePoint Security is looking for an Application Security Intern to join the Northeast DevSecOps team. The firm delivers trusted cybersecurity advisory services, risk management solutions, and technology evaluations to major organizations and government agencies. This temporary role offers hands-on experience in AI harness development, application security tool management, and manual source code review under the direct mentorship of experienced professionals. Interns will participate in real project work, automated testing pipelines, and limited client-facing discussions.

This position suits individuals seeking practical exposure to security consulting, automated tooling, and code analysis. Candidates must be located in the United States and able to accommodate a schedule that supports the Eastern Time Zone. Eastern or Central time zone residency is preferred. Please note that individuals residing in Alaska, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming are ineligible for this opening.

Responsibilities

  • Build and iterate on AI-assisted security harnesses, design prompts, and validate outputs under mentorship
  • Develop automated workflows for security reporting, evidence gathering, and findings documentation
  • Research emerging AI models, frameworks, and LLM APIs for integration into application security pipelines
  • Configure and operate SAST, DAST, SCA, IAST, and RASP tools while triaging automated findings
  • Support tool integration within CI/CD pipelines and software development life cycle workflows
  • Analyze application source code manually for vulnerabilities such as injection flaws and authentication issues
  • Participate in shadowed client engagements and tool discussions under direct guidance

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on programming experience
  • Availability to work 25 to 29 hours per week from Monday through Friday supporting the Eastern Time Zone
  • Physical presence within the United States during the entire duration of the internship
  • Access to a personal computing device and high-speed internet during working hours

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java
  • Demonstrated interest in security workflows and artificial intelligence tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and technical presentations
  • Preference for candidates residing in the Eastern or Central time zones
