Gusto is looking for a Staff Product Manager, Consumer Money to join its team in San Francisco. This full-time, hybrid position focuses on developing core financial services that empower workers to manage their earnings effectively.

Gusto operates a platform providing payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR services to over 500,000 small businesses nationwide. The Consumer Money team specifically builds financial tools for employees paid through the platform, including spend accounts, savings goals, paycheck splitting, and on-demand earned wage access via Gusto Wallet.

In this role, the product manager will handle initiatives across spending, saving, credit, and money management. The work involves shaping consumer banking experiences throughout the entire customer lifecycle across various platforms. The position suits a strategic professional with strong expertise in fintech infrastructure, payments, and accounting concepts who can thrive in an ambiguous environment and leverage AI tools in product development.

Employees based in San Francisco are expected to work from the office approximately two to three days per week. All full-time staff members receive base pay, benefits, and equity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage roadmap initiatives covering Gusto financial services to assist workers with spending, saving, credit, and money management.
  • Deliver consumer banking experiences across onboarding, activation, everyday usage, retention, engagement, and support on all customer surfaces.
  • Take ownership of business outcomes for the assigned product stream.
  • Serve as the fintech infrastructure and payments expert to design durable systems.
  • Utilize the payroll ecosystem's origination point to create consumer features unique to income sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Ops.
  • Assess and partner with external vendors such as issuing banks, card processors, and banking infrastructure providers.
  • Establish KPIs for activation, funding, engagement, and retention to drive prioritization and iteration using data.

Requirements

  • Have at least 7 years of product management experience.
  • Possess directly related product management work history in accounting, financial software, or an adjacent domain.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with AI tools and comfort using them to accelerate development.
  • Bring data-oriented skills to inform decisions and track outcomes.
  • Hold meaningful familiarity with accounting concepts like journal entries and reconciliation flows.
  • Work from the San Francisco office approximately 2 to 3 days per week.
