Quora is hiring a Software Engineer New Grad for their Machine Learning Platform team to help scale production systems that serve hundreds of millions of monthly visitors across the global knowledge-sharing platform and Poe, an AI workspace. This entry-level position focuses on the intersection of distributed systems, machine learning, and GPU serving performance, maintaining infrastructure that handles large recommendation models and large language models.
This opportunity is well-suited for upcoming or recent graduates with a technical background who want to learn from senior engineers and ship production code early in their careers. Candidates will work with technologies such as Python, Go, C++, PyTorch, AWS, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain the core infrastructure supporting the machine learning platform to maintain high performance, scalability, and availability
- Construct and enhance distributed systems that operate production models ranging from large language models to large recommendation models
- Manage GPU model serving by optimizing throughput, latency, and costs
- Contribute to platform modernization efforts and PyTorch-first standardizations
- Design developer tooling to streamline testing, development, and deployment processes for machine learning engineers
- Upgrade the feature store so new features reach production environments rapidly
- Take part in the on-call rotation to resolve production issues and deepen platform ownership
Requirements
- Available for meetings and impromptu communication during coordination hours from Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 3 PM Pacific Time
- Graduate of 2025 or 2026 with a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Demonstrated interest in machine learning, infrastructure, and large-scale distributed systems
- Familiarity with Go, Python, or C++, or the capacity to learn them rapidly
- Strong motivation to continuously learn and improve personally and collaboratively
Qualifications
- Prior software engineering background acquired through coding competitions, open-source contributions, internships, or work experience
- Hands-on experience or coursework involving machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Background in low-level performance tasks including optimization, benchmarking, or profiling
