Figma is hiring software engineering interns to join its team. The company develops a platform that helps groups bring ideas to life through brainstorming, prototyping, translating designs into code, and AI iteration. In this internship, participants are matched with specific teams based on their background and interests, which include product engineering, backend and infrastructure, or security engineering.
Interns work inside small engineering teams alongside mentors and teammates to build and release features, tools, or systems. Engineering areas cover full-stack user-facing features, platform-level distributed systems, developer tooling, and security-focused infrastructure. Past intern projects include diagramming updates in FigJam, smart selection capabilities, and shared fonts.

Responsibilities
- Embed into a Figma engineering team
- Contribute to projects aligned with team goals
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to plan timelines and break down features
- Build, document, and maintain tests, features, or infrastructure
- Participate in peer code reviews and share feedback
- Ship projects by the end of the internship
Requirements
- Experience writing clean code in at least one general-purpose language such as C++, JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Solid grasp of core computer science concepts including data structures and algorithms
- Experience solving technical problems via school, work, or personal projects
- Interest in exploring system design from infrastructure to UI
- Strong communication skills with the ability to ask questions and collaborate
Qualifications
- Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to write, debug, and optimize code
