The Consumer and Business group seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for the Risk Engineering team. This position involves developing and optimizing systems designed to spot and stop fraud, handle credit and market risk, and safeguard numerous users against financial dangers in real time at the scale of crypto markets. The person filling this role will steer technical projects from start to finish, make key architectural decisions for risk detection platforms, and execute complex features.

Responsibilities
- Manage the design and implementation of complex risk platform features from architecture to deployment and monitoring
- Formulate architectural choices for risk detection and mitigation systems by converting unclear business needs into scalable architectures
- Collaborate across functions with Data Science, Machine Learning, Risk Analysts, Product, and Compliance teams
- Construct AI-native risk systems utilizing fleets of agents to automate detection and response workflows
- Support team growth through peer code reviews, technical design documentation, and mentorship
- Maintain system quality by resolving technical debt, managing bug triaging, and leading incident response and post-mortems
Requirements
- Have at least 5 years of backend software engineering experience creating complex, high-impact production systems
- Demonstrate deep proficiency in backend languages including Go, Ruby, Python, or Java
- Show experience designing distributed systems such as microservices, event-driven architectures, and REST or GraphQL APIs
- Possess the ability to turn ambiguous goals into concrete technical plans and working architectures
- Demonstrate a track record of leading end-to-end projects encompassing scoping, design, execution, and monitoring
- Bring experience leading incident response, running post-mortems, and driving operational enhancements in high-availability systems
- Utilize generative AI responsibly while keeping human oversight for business-ready results
