Coinbase seeks a Senior Data Scientist to join its consumer organization and help expand economic freedom through digital asset products. In this remote position, the professional will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to shape product roadmaps and improve user experiences across consumer offerings such as spot and advanced trading, yield, Coinbase One, international growth, and new products like equities and prediction markets.
This role suits data professionals who excel at solving open-ended business problems using experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling. Team members operate in an intense, fast-paced setting and participate in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges. The selected candidate will own metrics and data pipelines, maintain high standards for statistical analysis, and translate complex findings into actionable strategies.

Responsibilities
- Investigate ambiguous business problems to deliver actionable insights and recommendations that steer decision-making
- Manage a wide range of data and metrics, stretching from initial event logging to the creation of visual data presentations
- Oversee code reviews, build and maintain ETL jobs, and utilize advanced skills in SQL and Python
- Uphold rigorous statistical standards and oversee experimentation and causal analysis to build stakeholder confidence
- Employ generative AI tools responsibly in daily workflows while maintaining human-in-the-loop oversight
Requirements
- Hold either a bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline like mathematics, statistics, physics, or computer science paired with at least five years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field with three or more years of relevant experience
- Demonstrate a track record of driving impactful data science initiatives within unclear problem spaces
- Possess practical expertise in applying complex modeling frameworks to real-world business challenges
- Have professional working experience with Python and SQL
- Show hands-on experience working with digital products through iterative development cycles
