Job Description
Reddit is an online platform featuring more than 100,000 active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors where users can share, comment on, and vote for content. The organization is currently hiring a Senior Data Scientist - Consumer to join its growing data science division on a full-time basis.
This position is suited for an experienced technical professional who can collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, engineering, design, marketing, and business development. In this role, the selected candidate will help build and enhance the systems that drive user and revenue growth by influencing product strategy, leading experimentation practices, and providing data-driven insights to stakeholders up to the C-suite level.
Responsibilities
- Produce observational causal analyses and experiment meta-analyses to guide product strategy and share actionable results with leadership up to the C-suite
- Enhance team experimentation practices through the design, execution, and deep-dive analysis of A-B tests
- Build data pipelines, tables, dashboards, and self-service tools for internal partners
- Determine and evaluate key performance indicators for teams to support quarterly goals and measure impact
- Collaborate regularly with stakeholders across all project phases to ensure alignment on business outcomes
- Mentor less experienced data scientists and business partners on industry methodologies and best practices
Requirements
- Expertise in SQL for querying relational databases and proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
- Deep knowledge of causal inference, statistical methodologies, and online A-B testing
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced environments while maintaining a bias toward action
- Strong technical storytelling and communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Capacity to navigate ambiguous challenges by developing and iterating on structured action plans
Qualifications
- Advanced degree including a Master of Science or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline like Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research
- For Master of Science holders, at least 5 years of professional experience in applied science or data science roles
- For Ph.D. holders, at least 4 years of professional experience in applied science or data science roles
