Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst to join its team for a full-time position supporting Veterans Affairs applications and cloud migration efforts. This role suits an experienced professional skilled in software configuration management, release engineering, and automation within regulated federal environments.
The person hired will take charge of build and deployment procedures, design productivity tools, and establish configuration standards. Key duties include managing commercial-off-the-shelf software, building CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates must be comfortable working autonomously, investigating complex deployment issues, and training developers on quality standards and configuration tools.

Responsibilities
- Support software applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs and assist with cloud migration
- Develop, maintain, and oversee configuration management tools for tracking software identification, control, reporting, and delivery
- Perform release engineering tasks to document product opening parameters and ensure hardware compliance
- Design, build, and automate productivity tools utilizing scripting, database, or programming languages
- Establish compliant build and deployment processes while creating company-wide software configuration standards
- Train software developers on configuration management tools and quality practices
- Guide technical solutions, troubleshoot build failures, and mentor junior analysts and engineers
- Manage commercial-off-the-shelf software, version control, and vendor patches
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain or possess a Public Trust MBI security clearance
- Experience leading software builds and releases across multiple environments within large regulated or federal enterprises
- Expertise in software configuration management, release engineering, and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with source control tools such as Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, and Subversion
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and GitHub Actions
- Experience with automation scripting in Bash, PowerShell, and Python
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible and Terraform
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with ten or more years of relevant experience
- Eight or more years of relevant experience accepted as a substitution for the educational requirement
- Professional certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CMII, or equivalent configuration management credentials
- Familiarity with Electronic Data Interchange X.12, Medical Claims, Health Level 7, and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standards
