Job Description
Vercel functions as an agentic infrastructure company designed to enable humans and agents to build and deploy software efficiently. The organization is trusted by millions of developers and well-known brands globally, providing tools that help users transition from initial concept to production securely and rapidly.
The product team seeks a Product Manager to lead the observability domain. In this capacity, the person will direct the roadmap and strategy for observability solutions such as Drains, OpenTelemetry tracing, and Runtime Logs, which allow teams to stream events, metrics, traces, and logs into their preferred systems. This position involves close collaboration with the engineering and design groups to assist customers in debugging and understanding applications running on the platform.
The role is suited for a professional who can operate independently without layers of management dictating the workflow, and who possesses deep familiarity with technical telemetry concepts. Depending on where the individual is based relative to company offices, the setup is either fully remote or includes mandatory in-office anchor days on specific weekdays.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategic vision and roadmap for observability offerings from telemetry ingestion through debugging surfaces
- Translate customer interviews, support escalations, usage data, and market shifts into a structured execution plan
- Collaborate daily with engineering on feature scoping and with design to make telemetry data legible
- Determine whether features should be built natively or integrated with third-party systems like Datadog, Sentry, Grafana, Honeycomb, and New Relic
- Collaborate with Enterprise customers, Sales, and Solutions teams to resolve adoption or expansion blockers related to observability
- Manage pricing and packaging strategies alongside Finance and go-to-market teams
- Partner with Product Marketing Management to author launch materials including changelogs, blog posts, and documentation direction
- Establish and maintain performance metrics for the observability product suite
Requirements
- Accumulate at least five years of product management experience
- Spend meaningful time working on developer, data-intensive, or infrastructure products
- Demonstrate the ability to ship technical products where engineers viewed you as an equal peer
- Read trace waterfalls and reason through sampling, cardinality, and retention costs
- Manage a product domain independently end-to-end
- Use data fluently by writing custom queries to investigate usage questions directly
Qualifications
- Experience working at an observability, APM, or monitoring company, or serving as an internal power user at scale
- History of shipping artificial intelligence or agent-facing developer tooling
- Prior ownership of consumption-based pricing models for technical products
- Active usage of Next.js or Vercel
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive financial compensation package including equity
- Inclusive healthcare package
- Mentorship opportunities and funding for industry events to build skills and networks
- Flexible time off
- Work gear provided along with a work-from-home budget to outfit your workspace
- Eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role
