Coinbase is hiring a Product Design Intern for a remote-first internship lasting 12 weeks during the summer of 2027. Coinbase focuses on increasing economic freedom and building the future of finance through core products such as the Coinbase app, Prime, and Coinbase Wallet. This role is ideal for designers looking to tackle complex challenges and contribute to large-scale initiatives that impact millions of crypto users.
As an intern, you will be embedded within a product team to address genuine design obstacles. You will work alongside researchers, product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to transform product concepts into tangible user interfaces. Responsibilities include owning a design project from start to finish across web or mobile platforms, building high-fidelity prototypes, and working with engineers on implementation using AI-assisted coding tools. Team members participate in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges.

Responsibilities
- Manage a product design project from start to finish, turning concepts into refined user experiences across mobile or web platforms with guidance from an intern manager
- Partner with cross-functional team members to determine user requirements, investigate solutions, and validate design choices
- Present design work during group critiques and integrate feedback to improve solutions
- Develop high-fidelity prototypes using Figma to share concepts and work closely with engineering for execution
- Partner with engineers to build and ship pull requests with AI-assisted coding tools for front-end production changes
- Apply human-centered design principles and structured problem-solving methods to complex product hurdles
Requirements
- Show the ability to use design software such as Figma or Cursor to build user flows, wireframes, or visual layouts through a portfolio or samples
- Finish at least one design project demonstrating end-to-end thinking from problem statement to visual output
- Show basic familiarity with cryptocurrency concepts and the role of Coinbase, along with a desire to learn
- Use generative AI responsibly while keeping human oversight to deliver business results and improve efficiency
