The company is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Notifications Platform team, also known as the Foundation team. In this position, you will direct the engineering group responsible for the architecture, development, and operation of durable infrastructure that powers push, email, and in-app notifications. This role is a fit for a leader who wants to guide high-impact distributed systems, collaborate with machine learning groups, and improve developer efficiency across product teams. You will manage personnel, direct technical strategy, and establish operational standards for high-availability communication pipelines at scale.
Responsibilities
- Manage and guide the team responsible for building and operating the Notifications Platform infrastructure.
- Establish technical direction for platform capabilities including APIs, eventing, workflow orchestration, delivery pipelines, and observability.
- Work alongside machine learning teams to productionize machine learning-driven notification systems.
- Partner with engineering and product groups to define clear platform contracts and improve developer experience.
- Oversee the complete development lifecycle for highly available services.
- Implement best practices for reliability, scalability, performance, security, and privacy across the platform.
- Recruit and mentor a diverse team of software engineers, helping them outline and reach career goals.
- Act as a thought partner to management and communicate project updates to cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience managing and building engineering teams.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager building distributed systems or platform services at scale.
- Strong knowledge of service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven systems in production environments.
- Experience operating low-latency and highly available services.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, data storage, messaging or streaming systems, and observability tools.
- Experience defining technical strategies for platform teams while balancing consistency and team autonomy.
