Coinbase is hiring a Credit Risk Analyst to support its Financial and Operational Risk department within the Counterparty and Credit Risk group. This remote position focuses on managing credit exposure across a worldwide institutional client base by underwriting counterparties and offering lending solutions within the digital asset market.

The person in this role will conduct credit evaluations for intricate counterparties, suggest risk-based limits, and track portfolio exposures to guide the scaling of institutional products. The position requires participation in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges. This role fits analytical professionals experienced in credit risk management within financial services or digital assets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform due diligence and underwriting for institutional counterparties including asset managers, venture capital firms, private equity, and hedge funds
  • Prepare written analyses and recommend internal credit ratings and risk-based limits for leadership review
  • Track portfolio exposures, perform periodic surveillance of trading partners, and report concentration trends and settlement risks to management
  • Assess asset volatility and liquidity risks on a portfolio and per-asset basis to support capital planning and limit establishment
  • Negotiate industry documentation such as MLAs, PBAs, and ACAs while working alongside legal, operations, business development, and product teams

Requirements

  • Possess one to three years of direct credit risk management experience encompassing portfolio monitoring or counterparty underwriting within a fast-paced financial services or digital asset setting
  • Bring prior experience evaluating institutional clients like hedge funds, asset managers, private equity, or venture capital firms
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of capital markets products and standard industry documentation including prime brokerage agreements and MLAs
  • Show the ability to create clear written credit memos and present risk recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate proficiency in building quantitative credit models and exposure analyses using SQL, spreadsheets, or other analytical instruments
  • Utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost improvements
