In this position, the professional will direct multidisciplinary therapeutic teams, steer strategic initiatives, and shape operational planning related to promotional and advertising compliance for oncology products. The individual will analyze marketplace developments, establish productivity benchmarks, oversee departmental budgeting, and manage staff development. This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced regulatory professional with a strong background in pharmaceutical advertising standards who can operate independently within a complex matrix structure.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring three days on-site per week and two days remotely. Eligible work locations include AbbVie offices in Mettawa, Illinois; South San Francisco, California; Florham Park, New Jersey; or Irvine, California. The position involves prolonged periods of continuous sitting for more than two consecutive hours during an eight-hour workday.

Responsibilities

  • Direct cross-functional and multidisciplinary therapeutic teams and manage multidivisional initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate productivity metrics to forecast current and future business needs
  • Maintain communication channels with Medical, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, and Public Affairs stakeholders
  • Formulate recommendations and spearhead initiatives for process and policy improvements
  • Assist with departmental budget management and project expenditures
  • Analyze marketplace and industry trends to identify business opportunities
  • Manage daily operations in the absence of the Director
  • Mentor, evaluate, and reward staff members based on performance and goals
  • Develop complex processes, projects, and strategic presentations for senior leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in science fields such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, medical technology, pharmacy, or pharmacology
  • At least 8 years of pharmaceutical experience with a Bachelor's degree, or at least 5 years with a Pharm.D.
  • Direct responsibility and solid understanding of regulatory advertising and promotion regulations
  • Experience working in a complex and matrix environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Previous experience in a management capacity
