Twilio is currently seeking a remote-based Staff Software Engineer (L4) in Canada to join the Enterprise AI Engineering team. In this position, the selected individual will focus on modernizing how the Customer Support organization functions by deploying intelligent, agentic solutions and building production-grade, full-stack artificial intelligence applications. The person in this role will act as a core technical leader, bridging the gap between advanced research and reliable operational systems across the company's business functions.

This opportunity is well-suited for a technical professional who views artificial intelligence as a major shift in software development and enjoys designing stateful web applications, distributed systems, and data pipelines. The employer operates with a remote-first model while occasionally requiring in-person attendance for team gatherings, functional off-sites, or client meetings.

As part of the Enterprise AI team, the chosen candidate will co-lead technical infrastructure design, steer strategies around scalability and performance, mentor mid-level and senior engineers, and maintain high security and compliance standards throughout the data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead software infrastructure design and drive technical strategy for performance and scalability
  • Build stateful web applications by integrating React front-ends with backend modular services
  • Serve as a technical leader across distributed systems and data technologies
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence through architectural workshops and deep-dive code reviews
  • Collaborate across departments to transform business needs into efficient technical architecture
  • Maintain data security, integrity, and quality throughout the lifecycle according to compliance standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of eight years of professional background in software development, data engineering, or a related area
  • At least three years of experience in a technical leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated background in full-stack development using React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Proven track record of architecting large-scale data projects and distributed systems
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL pipeline design and optimization

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with production-grade Large Language Model applications and agent frameworks like Langchain, Langgraph, Llamaindex, LangSmith, LangFuse, or CrewAI
  • Proficiency in big data tools and cloud data services such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, AWS, GCP, or Azure
