Coinbase is hiring a full-time Staff Software Engineer, Core AI Infrastructure to join its IT Operations team within ESTO remotely. This position suits an experienced technologist who thrives in an intense, fast-paced setting and wants to work directly with senior leadership on AI transformation.
In this role, the engineer will manage the infrastructure behind artificial intelligence products, focusing on automation, reliability, and security at scale. Responsibilities span full-stack engineering, building distributed systems, creating developer-facing tools, and defining architectural standards across teams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end AI products through production-grade distributed systems encompassing serving infrastructure, data pipelines, and deployment orchestration across the software development life cycle
- Encourage platform adoption by developing clean APIs, abstractions, and developer tools so other product groups can integrate AI without custom infrastructure requests
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership across platforms to align infrastructure needs, manage cross-team technical dependencies, and set shared contracts
- Set engineering standards and technical culture by establishing architectural patterns, guiding other engineers, and improving code quality, observability, and operations
- Create full-stack applications to drive internal AI products and infrastructure utilizing Go or Python
Requirements
- Have at least 8 years of background automating and supporting cloud infrastructure on AWS alongside network environments
- Possess practical experience with infrastructure-as-code utilities such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt
- Demonstrate proven abilities in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes in production
- Show proficiency in at least one programming language including Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go
- Bring experience with version control workflows utilizing Git-based CI/CD pipelines
- Exhibit a platform-builder mindset with a track record of designing reusable infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions adopted across an engineering organization
- Utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, quality, and cost
