Robinhood operates a financial platform with the mission to democratize finance for all. The organization is currently seeking a Staff Software Developer for its DevX team to build and operate core developer infrastructure.
In this position, you will act as a technical leader for build systems and developer infrastructure, guiding the strategy and execution for thousands of internal engineers. Your day-to-day work will center on CI pipelines, remote development environments, and build systems to ensure secure, rapid, and reliable code development at scale. You will collaborate across teams to eliminate developer friction and elevate engineering productivity standards.
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced software professional with extensive background in scaling critical developer infrastructure and high-volume build systems in production environments. The role is based out of the Toronto office, with in-person attendance required at least three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Design the long-term technical roadmap for core developer infrastructure including SCM, CI, and development environments
- Construct and maintain scalable infrastructure focused on speed, safety, and reliability
- Drive onboarding strategy and environments to shorten time-to-first-commit
- Partner with engineering groups to standardize build and CI patterns and eliminate friction
- Mentor team engineers through technical design reviews and best-practice guidelines
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing, scaling, and operating critical developer infrastructure or high-volume build and CI systems in production
- Subject-matter expertise in distributed or remote build execution and modern build systems such as Bazel
- Strong programming proficiency in Python or Go with a history of building reliable system software
- Demonstrated ability to steer complex technical initiatives from conception to completion aligned with business objectives
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to advocate for tooling adoption and mentor staff
