TestPros, Inc. seeks a Software Validation & Data Security Engineer for a remote, part-time, short-term 1099 consulting engagement. Operating within a regulated healthcare and software client environment, the contractor will support independent verification and validation activities. TestPros provides independent IT assessment solutions addressing critical challenges for commercial clients and the U.S. Federal Government, focusing on making safety and security improvements.
This role suits an experienced consultant capable of executing hands-on technical testing and data analysis rather than solely focusing on GRC compliance. The professional will collaborate with the security and compliance lead to perform testing, gather objective evidence, record exceptions, and contribute to final reports. Compensation ranges between $60 and $100 per hour on a 1099 or Corp-to-Corp basis, with final rates determined by experience, qualifications, and federal contract labor rate requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on software validation and verification testing
- Review system requirements alongside existing and historical validation documentation
- Develop and execute validation plans, protocols, test scripts, and test cases
- Conduct functional testing to ensure system features operate correctly
- Verify data integrity, audit trails, access controls, authentication, and security features
- Validate systems against HIPAA and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
- Analyze structured data from CSV, JSON, and database datasets
- Utilize automated scripts and techniques to query and scan large datasets
- Identify sensitive patterns, identifiers, PII, and PHI
- Document findings, test results, supporting evidence, exceptions, and retesting
- Contribute to creating a repeatable testing methodology
- Assist in preparing final IV&V reports and supporting documentation
- Take part in client technical discussions and clarify requirements
Requirements
- Experience with software validation, quality assurance, IV&V, or computer system validation
- Hands-on functional software testing background
- Experience creating or executing IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols
- Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11
- Understanding of HIPAA, privacy, data integrity, PII, and PHI regulations
- Working knowledge of Python or SQL for querying, analysis, or automated testing
- Capability to handle CSV, JSON, databases, and large datasets
- Experience with automated scanning, data querying, and sensitive data discovery
- Ability to document testing methodology and evidence in a formal environment
- Comfort working as a part-time, project-based 1099 independent contractor
Qualifications
- Background in regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices
- Experience with data masking, anonymization, de-identification, and data classification
- Background in writing automated validation scripts or test automation
- Familiarity with ISO 14641 or ISO 16175-1
- Experience with electronic document systems or records management
- Security testing background involving audit trails, logging, authentication, and data protection
