Vercel, an agentic infrastructure company trusted by millions of developers and major organizations, is seeking a Software Engineer, Trust & Safety. This position focuses on building and managing systems that protect the platform and its users from large-scale abuse.
The role is suited for an engineer who enjoys blending security practices, data analytics, and applied artificial intelligence techniques. Professionals in this position will investigate threat behaviors, create detection mechanisms, and develop scalable safeguards that protect the platform without impeding legitimate development work.
Candidates can work fully remote if they live outside a set commuting radius from company offices located in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin. Those living within commuting distance will work from an office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Examine diverse, large-scale datasets and threat actor actions to guide detection rules and safety measures
- Investigate, test, and deploy modern language model methods for spotting and stopping platform misuse
- Create robust production systems to identify and halt harmful activities
- Develop and manage internal evaluation pipelines, datasets, and tooling for safety operations
- Partner with infrastructure, product, and security departments to transition research into stable production environments
Requirements
- Minimum of five years working in security engineering, trust and safety, or abuse mitigation
- Proficiency in Python along with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Practical background utilizing language models for fine-tuning, evaluation, and prompt engineering
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments such as AWS
- Knowledge of practical threat actor strategies and abuse methods
- Track record of taking systems through their complete lifecycle from research to production
