This role focuses on designing and maintaining backend services responsible for minting, holding, and settling tokenized assets while keeping them synchronized with traditional brokerage and ledger platforms. The work involves developing smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows where correctness and auditability are vital since the systems handle real customer funds continuously.

This position suits engineers with a strong background in backend systems, cloud architectures, and correctness-critical development who want to apply distributed systems and blockchain concepts to financial market infrastructure. Candidates must be comfortable working on-site at least three days per week in Menlo Park, Toronto, or New York City. Robinhood offers performance-based compensation including bonuses, equity ownership, 401(k) matching, comprehensive health insurance covering employees and dependents, lifestyle wallets, fertility and mental health benefits, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and catered office workspaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities on the Robinhood Chain
  • Develop product features and platform enhancements meeting strict correctness and scalability standards
  • Integrate traditional market infrastructure with on-chain systems including smart contracts, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows
  • Identify and execute improvements for system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction
  • Collaborate with product, compliance, client, and platform teams on technical solutions

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of software development experience
  • Backend development expertise using languages such as Go, Python, or Java
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures
  • Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience or care for correctness-critical systems focusing on idempotency, reconciliation, and failure modes
  • Strong ownership mindset with a track record of delivering end-to-end projects in cross-functional settings
  • Commitment to working on-site at least three days per week in Menlo Park, Toronto, or New York City

Qualifications

  • Interest in blockchain fundamentals such as the EVM, smart contracts, wallets, and on-chain settlement, or an appetite to learn them quickly

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Performance-driven compensation featuring multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching
  • Top tier health insurance offering 100 percent coverage for employees and 90 percent coverage for dependents
  • Lifestyle wallet providing a flexible spending account for wellness and learning
